My Friday night was spent resting and recouping with this little guy. If you haven’t seen my Instagram, Brutus got in a little tizzy Wednesday at camp. I received a call in the middle of the day and after seeing their name flash on my caller ID, I knew there was a problem.
I guess he escaped, which isn’t a big surprise. Some day I’ll write about Brutus’ Houdini escapades….they happen quite frequently and in situations we still have no clue how he gets out of it. ANYWAY, in the midst of escaping, he tore his entire body up. When I picked him on Wednesday, his whole body, especially his little head, was bright red from all the cuts and scrapes that he got from digging and going under a fence. And, his back left paw was bleeding. As you can see, he couldn’t put any pressure on it so he walked around with 3 legs. Surprisingly, he can get around pretty well.
Saturday, I had lunch my friend Emily. Afterwards, I shopped until I dropped. I haven’t gone shopping for so long, for a very very long time! I had the best time. Nothing big purchased, but I did pick up these beauties!
At first, I didn’t love the look of Toms. But they started to grow on me. Now I’m so excited for the weather to cooperate so I can wear them!
Saturday evening after Derek got home from work, we went to J Alexander’s for dinner. If you have been there and haven’t experienced their carrot cake. GO NOW!!
This picture does absolutely nothing for the carrot cake, but I promise you it is the best!! They serve it warm and gooey and wow I could just eat a plate of that cream cheese icing!
Sunday:
Besides grabbing McDonald’s for breakfast (so excited when I made it there at 10:56, just in time!), I watched a lot of crazy March Madness games. Seriously, heart-attack! I also went to a neighbor’s 31 party, which I swore I wouldn’t buy anything and then of course purchased something. But hey, at least I limited myself to just one thing, right?
We enjoyed tacos and mango margaritas for dinner! And lastly, I worked on a quick project I’ve been wanting to do forever!!
I have seen a few of you ladies make this and I just feel in love with the idea. I can’t wait to see if Derek actually uses it!
Hope you had a great weekend!!!
Linking up with Sami today!

Aww poor Brutus! Glad he is okay though! I just got my first pair of TOMS and they are so comfy to wear. Of course it's been snowing a lot so I've mostly been wearing them around the house haha.
Oh no...poor little guy! I'm glad he's okay. Your weekend made me hungry!! Yum!
LOVE J Alexanders too! Too bad about your pup! Hope he feels better :) My dogs are escape artists too, but they love doggy camp so much they have never tried there!
Pooor Brutus!! Floyd has been sending him get well wishes!
YAY Toms!!
Poor Brutus! I am sending lots of hugs and get well wishes!
I want to get some Toms too!
Love the frame. I didn't think Derek would use it but he does more than me.
Hope Brutus gets well soon!
I love toms!! I have 3 pair and wear them ALL summer long!! :)
OH NO! Poor Brutus!! I cannot wait to read about his Houdini tricks!
Poor Brutus =( We have the opposite issue with Willow, she never leaves our side and FREAKS OUT when she can't see us. It makes other people watching her kind of hard.
I love your finished project! We've had ours for over a year and I love the love notes we write to each other on it.
Wow! I'm glad Brutus is okay.
Those tacos look good. I am craving Mexican food now.
Poor Brutus! Yorkies can be such mischievous little dogs can't they! I'm glad to see he's doing ok and that you're there to take such great care of him :)
oh your poor pup.. i can't believe he dug under a fence!! glad he's okay though!
i'm always pumped when i get up early enough on a weekend to make it to mcd before breakfast is over! hah, unfortunately breakfast in nky ends at 10:30 :(
Poor Brutus :( I'm glad he's okay though!! Yay TOMS! I can't wait for it to get warm enough to wear them either. Your craft is really cute, I love it!
First, I am so happy the pup is ok. Every time we go away, we get those calls from the doggy hotel. Last time, one ate her collar and the other was sick! Ugh.
Second, I recently became a Tom's fan so I totally get it.
Lastly, I made that frame too but with grey striped background. I love it. We use it all of the time and write silly things. So fun!

Oh poor Brutus!! I've got almost 10 pairs of Toms once you get one you get hooked. The wedges are my absolute faves!
Awww...poor little guy! Glad he is ok! And I am still not sold on the Toms...I hear everyone say they are so comfortable, but like you, I just can't make myself like them.
Poor Brutus. What a trooper though and quite determined. Maybe this will make him not want to escape again.
Sounds like you had a great weekend! I spent mine sick and had to call out of work today, blah.
sooo many food yumminess!! i need that in my life! and i used to not like Tom's either but now I love them!

Poor Brutus! I still don't have a pair of TOMS, love that frame idea so cute :-)
Poor Brutus, hope he recovers soon.
I love my Toms. Seriously the most comfortable shoes I own!
Toms definitely grew on me now I quickly pair them with anything for a casual look. Love them!
So sorry about your dog. Hope he feels better soon.
YAY for relaxing weekend.
Ok McDonald's breakfast is my favorite thing ever!! Except the ones where I live close at 10 am so I never make it, especially when I'm hungover which is when I need it the most. It's a tragedy, clearly.

Oh no! Poor Brutus.. I have a little 6 yr old, 7lb Shih Tzu named Levi and he is my child, literally. I got him when he was only 5wks old (the breeder let me have him early due to my background with animals, etc) and he spent every waking hour with me. Now that I am engaged and am living at a place where you cannot have anything with a voice box, he stays with my parents and their dog.. it KILLS ME. So we sneak him into our condo on the weekends when we can. He often escapes and I swear he's trying to find me. He won't really listen to my parents once he's escaped and I'm terrified he's going to get hit by a car or stolen. We will be moving to Alaska (from FL, omg!!) before the end of the year and he's coming with us. I cannot wait until he can once again become a full time family member! I'm glad you got good ol' lil Brutus back and he's healing well. PS- I know I'm a little behind in this post but I'm catching up!
