Book Reviews

So, if you didn’t notice, I didn’t do a weekend recap on Monday.  Aside from my good friend Emily moving into her new house on Saturday, I didn’t do anything that exciting this weekend to report.

WHYYYY???

Well, because I was literally reading all weekend!  I read the first two books of a seriously haunting series.  The third book is not yet released.

Breathing Series

The Breathing Series by Rebecca Donovan

This is a series about a young girl who is dealing with a physically abusive relationship in her home.  The first book is seriously soooooo good!  I couldn’t put it down.

Before I start the review…..let me tell you:  I don’t need a book to be all happy & rainbows and stuff for me to like it.  However, I do not enjoy reading a book that is just plain old depressing.

Reason To Breathe (First Book)
While it is serious and a little dark, there are enough good times in the book to make it not disheartening.  She finds her first love, spends time with her friends, excels in sports, etc.  I sped through this book to see how it ended.  Of course, in a cliff hanger.  Thus….

….I started the second book immediately on Sunday.

Barely Breathing (Second Book)
This book was soooooo draining.  Not enough of those said good times to make this book “amazing” for me.  I honestly couldn’t wait to finish it so I could start another book that would make me feel a little happier.  As soon as I put down the book, I was a little sad that the second book wasn’t as good as the first.

However, I couldn’t stop thinking about the book and the characters.  I was driving to work on Monday and still thinking about this series.  Now, I’m thinking that the 3rd book must have a lot in store for the readers and the author had to get out all those events in the 2nd book.

So, final verdict…I say if you’re in the mood for a little dark but fast-past novel, definitely pick up this series!  If you have read it, I would love to hear what you thought!!

Oh interesting.. I'm admittedly intrigued. I need to find some books to take to Barbados, so I might pick up the first one. That said, not sure if it's a beach read..hmm.. TBD.
