Top Five Things To Do In Nashville

If you follow me on Instagram (if you don’t, find me Marriedwithapup), then you know Derek and I took a mini-vacation down to Nashville for the weekend.  We feel in love with this city back in July when we went for my birthday.  We have been wanting to get back ever since!  And the second time did not disappoint.

Here are our Top 5 Things to Do in Nashville:

1) Get new cowboy/cowgirl boots!

Why you ask?  Well, buying new shoes is always fun.  BUT, there is nothing like putting on a pair of boots, walking into a bar with live music, and drinking a beer.  It’s all about the experience…and the boots just make it more authentic.  When in Rome, right?

We went to Boot Country and participated in their “Buy 1, Get 2 Free” special.  I think it is pretty clear who ended up with 2 pairs :)

2) Go to the Grand Ole Opry!

This is a MUST do!  We didn’t go the first time, and I think now that we did, we will go back to one show every time.  It was two hours of pure entertainment.  Each act that went on only did 2-4 songs, so you got to see a lot of people.  Our night included:

IMG_0367eAnd Miss Carrie Underwood!!  She closed out the show, so she sang 4 songs and it left me wanting a whole lot more!  I must see her in concert!

There were many more people who performed.  We will definitely go back!

3) Go to any bar with live music and drink a beer

So, this is what Derek and I can do for HOURS!!  These people are seriously so, so, so good!

The guy on lead guitar ended up being from Cincinnati.  Wahhhooo!

4)  Eat lots of good food (duh!)

No matter where we are, Derek and I love trying new restaurants.  One place that we went to this time, was Burger Up.  Everything from the community tables and décor, to the food was awesome.  The restaurant is based on thoughtful consuming so everything is very fresh and either local or known sourcing.  Loved it!

Another cool place we tried out was Las Paletas.  It is a gourmet popsicle place that has been featured on The Food Network.  I got the hibiscus and Derek got the Chai.  Both equally amazing!

5) Throw away all mental capacity inhibitions and karaoke

Y’all, I lost my mind with this one.  So, these people at this karaoke bar were great.  No, they were better than great…they were professionals.  I’m not even slightly exaggerating on this one.  It was almost like these amazing singers who are performing at the bars come here when their shift is done and just let off some steam by slaying every song imaginable.  Oh, and the groups, yeah, they were harmonizing.  You get the picture.

Derek was politely trying to talk me out of doing this.  But, with my a lot of liquid courage, I went up there and crossed something off my bucket list.  I’ve never done this before, and I will never do it again.  Let’s just say it didn’t go over as I’ve always imagined it would.  Derek said I was definitely performance of the night…but not for my skills.

Well, that about wraps up our trip!  Hope you had a great weekend!

Isn't Carrie Underwood amazing in person!?! I really want to go to Nashville someday but it is SO not Jeremy's scene so I think it's going to have to be a girl's weekend. Looks like you guys had fun!

Girl! This post is perfect for me. I'm going for a bachelorette party early April. Questions--do you think 2 days is enough? or should I go up a day early? If I can make 2 days work then that'd be best but if you think I need 3 days to absolutely see everything then tell me! :) I want to see CHARLES!!!
