Well, the Panera employee was like, “you look like a Katie.” And I responded with, “thanks, I guess.” But then I got to thinking, as us bloggers do when searching for some blogging material, what’s in a name? What makes me look like a Katie?
According to Wikipedia, Katie is of Greek origin and means “pure.” Well, I guess I look pure then? No, I definitely don’t think the name’s meaning has anything to do with what the person looks like. So, maybe all of us Katie’s look alike or a certain way. So I googled, famous Katie’s.
-Katie Holmes
-Katy Perry
-Katie Couric
…and a lot more Katie’s that I did not recognize. Safe to say, we all do not look the same. So I guess there is nothing concrete that makes somebody look like a Katie.
But here’s the thing, I totally get what this stranger was saying. Sometimes I look at people I know, and I think, man they do/do not look like their names. I do not know exactly what it is, but there is definitely something there.
So, do you look like your name? Is there somebody you know who does NOT look like their name?

I think your name comes from Katharina like mine. So your name has the same origin which is totally cool. :)
And I totally know what you mean. Sometimes I look at people and I think that they look like a certain name. I can't explain why. It is really weird.

Too funny! I am seriously in the process of talking about this exact same subject, but in regards to naming your baby. When I think of a name, I truly envision what personality and look goes with it. Ifeel like I'm totally a Kaitlyn/Kate, but my dad wanted to call me Stacy... so glad my mom won that battle ;) GREAT POST !!

Second, this sounds weird but I think you look like a Katie too. I'm not even sure why but the name just fits you.

I've def have that 'she looks like a so-and-so before' and also the opposite, of hearing someone's name and feeling like it doesn't fit! I always wonder if it's because maybe we previously knew a Katie (or whoever) that resembles you, etc?! Weird!!
That's an adorable gift! I don't *think* my name matches w/me..but who knows..maybe it does. I have a very...unique Eastern European name (so I'm told), but I'm Chinese. Go figure. lol
My first name is Nancy and I like to think I don't look like a Nancy.. First thing that comes to mind is obese librarian :)

Derek is such an all-star! I love that! So cute AND creative. People tell me I look like a Kait all the time...and I don't get it. I don't even know what to say back to them.
For some reason people always call me Lisa which is nothing like Jill. I guess I look like a Lisa.

I've been told I look like a Jennifer. But then I've also had people get confused and call me Rachel or Jessica (other popular 80s names, I guess). :) When I think of the name Katie, I think of someone who is approachable and friendly, and I think that fits you well!

My friend is due to have a baby girl in 2 weeks she hasn't chosen a name yet she says 'we'll wait and see what name she looks like!' I thought it weird at first but I kinda get it too haha x
Haha this is funny and interesting. I wonder if I look like a Kelly. I grew up with a lot of Kelly's in school and we all looked quite different. Maybe it is a age thing too. Who knows??

If I meet a person for the first time I start guessing their name based on how they look. When I get their name and it is completely the opposite of what I thought it would be it is hard to call them their real name. I know, strange.
One of my best friends called me Summer for the longest time. She said I looked like a Summer, haha.

I'm not sure if I look like an Emily or not. I really don't know many other people named Emily so it's hard to say! I feel like the name is totally me but that's probably because I can't imagine having another name!
Haha that is so funny! I have been told I look like an Ashley before, but I think that is just because anyone could look like an Ashley - since it's the most common name ever!
One time my husband and I made up names for our neighbors (whose names we didn't know) then when we found out their real names were taken aback because the fake names fit them way better (or so we thought!). It is so funny to think about names like that!
