Five Love Languages

A couple months ago, I ordered the book The Five Love Languages.  It seemed like every person I knew (single and married) has read this book or at least knew something about the love languages.  I knew nothing.  And you can be sure, Derek knew nothing.  I love reading, and thought this seemed like an easy read.  I was keeping my fingers crossed that Derek may pick it up and read it as well.

After receiving it, I was blown away with how little the book was.  I decided to read a chapter out loud each night before we went to bed.  It was seriously like two minutes.  The results we discovered after reading this book were interesting….

Every single love language is my love language.  I feel like this makes me high maintenance.  Derek says it makes me easy to love ;)

None of these are Derek’s love language.  In fact, we discovered that Derek doesn’t have a love language.  Seriously, as long as Derek gets a 5 minute conversation/time with me a day, his love tank is full.

So, please tell me we are not weird people in that we don’t have a single love language!!

haha I am the same way! I think I switched my love language 5 times throughout the book ;) I always say my husbands love language is food...totally not in the book!

Oh that is too cute. I think I am probably all 5 too, but I definitely need words of affirmation. I know my husband does too!!

I've never heard of this book so I will have to look into it. I've always thought of myself as simple so I don't know if I have many love languages.. however I'm pretty sure my fiance's only "love language" is food aka my cooking ;)

I have heard about this for the first time a week ago. I took a test on the internet and I think I had 2 or 3 love languages. :)

It's so funny because I've heard a wide range. Some people, their love language is dead on and then I know others who say they don't have one. Mine is definitely Acts of Service but Jeremy's is a mix of Words of Affirmation and baking (which I know isn't really a love language but he feels SO loved when I bake him cupcakes or something else.)

Mine is totally touch. For sure. I want to be held & hugged a lot. I want my hand held. When I'm upset I REALLY want to be held.

My husband's is probably words of affirmation or listening to him or time spent together or something like that. He always wants me to listen to him...

Hahaha !!! I haven't read it but I have a feeling we'll have the same results as you and Derek, lol. Not high maintenance, def easy to love ;)

Haha, I don't that matters at all! As long as Adam gets an "I love you" he is good to go... and ice cream... that man loves his ice cream lol

I haven't read this yet, but I did take a quiz online and I think I'm words of affirmation. Although when i read the descriptions, I think I'm all of them! Ha! :)

I'm a little bit of everything as well, but some more than others like words and acts. Ryan is definitely acts though. He feels loved when I make food or am doing something for the sole purpose FOR him.

We used to think mine was receiving gifts because come on, who doesn't love to get stuff? But Ryan argues it isn't mine and then he lists examples why not. For example, whenever he gets me flowers, it's always plants or something you can put in a pot. I'd rather have regular flowers any day, but his reason for buying the other variety is that it'll last longer. Yeah, I don't care. I told him when he does that he's thinking of himself and not me when he does that. lol

I think it's great you have all of the love languages, it means your husband gets to love you in all the languages! :) I've read this several times during our 10 year marriage and my love languages have changed a few times. Right now I have 2 main ones quality of time and gifts.

Derek is trying to win some bonus points ;) and he did because that's the cutest answer.

I felt like ours were all over the place too...especially living with mr. analytical who had to study each question and say, 'well but what if they meant...?'

I've wanted to read this as well!

When my husband and I were getting married, we had to do this as part of premartial counseling. We both had the same love languages. We were so much alike that if you ranked mine from one through five, his was exactly the same too!

I'm such a Words of Affirmation gal, but I think everyone is a little bit of all of them (except for in your husband's case). I love his perspective of you...so easy to love. That's adorable!
