Bedroom Reveal

Alright, let’s do it!  First, let me show you the before photos.  Please note- these were taken with the iPhone and it was untypically and incredibly messy at the time

Before

See that itty bitty un-made full size bed?  Oh, and everybody say hello to my husband’s pile of clothes laying right there beside the bed

And that, is our lone dresser!  See, when we moved, our other chest was literally falling apart!!  And we knew that we didn’t want to buy anything since we would be purchasing a new set within the year.  So basically, our closet as been a hell hole mess for a year!

After

So, granted that this bed is made and I took this with an actual camera…..I think it looks much better & bigger!  We painted the accent wall behind the bed to reflect the teals/blues in the room!  We also have a big duvet that matches the stripes on two of the euro pillows; but, because it is the summer time, it is off the bed!

And just so you know what it took to take these pictures…..

Every time I would go to take a photo, Brutie Man was right there in front of the camera!  I literally had to move him every shot!  What can I say, he likes to show off!

And here are my plans of to-do’s before the room is considered finished!

1) Curtains- These are already up thanks to Derek!  I should note that these are our first curtains in the wholllleeee house, thanks dear : )

2) Lamps for side tables- Also completed; I found some great ones at Home Goods

3) Some type of art work/sign for the wall above the headboard…I have something in mind

4) Possibly a new light fixture….I also have something in mind!!

5) Full length mirror in between the two side windows; I can’t wait for this!

6) Lastly, I forgot to add this to the picture; but, we really need a bed skirt!

Thanks so much for letting me share our bedroom redo!

Blooms!

Along with all this nice weather, comes beautiful new blooms!  I told you I would share our landscaping once the colors started developing…so I took some pictures for you!

Okay, let’s start with the pre-landscaping photo for a reminder

Now with landscaping showing a little color!

Yay!  Love the green and pinks/reds/and purples.  I took a couple close-ups for you too

One of our pink knock-out rose bushes

Those lilac bushes seriously smell sogood!

And of course, I had a little photography assistance

Hope you all are enjoying the beautiful weather and colors that Spring time brings!

PS- last day for Picnik…so sad

Weekend Recap!

Hello blogging friends!!  We’ve been super busy with that house project that I mentioned last week.  Whew, so glad it’s almost done!  So I’ll give you a hint of what we are doing:

So, that is a picture of our basement…in it’s very beginning stages last year!!  Can you believe I didn’t take a picture of it when it was finished last June (not to mention this picture is totally blurry)?!?!  Anyway, it has been completely empty…with having to furnish every other room in the house, our basement took a back seat.  However, this baby is totally painted and stuffed full of stuff!  We transformed this room in to our Derek’s theater room.

I will definitely post pictures once everything is complete (hopefully this week!)!

Saturday- We got the chance to go to Columbus and watch Derek’s nephew, Thomas, wrestle in the state tournament!  He is a senior and has been to state all 4 years…however, this year, he WON state!!!

Derek and I were so excited for him and glad that we could be there!

Saturday night- we raced back to Cincinnati for Bockfest!  Cincinnati actually has the largest and oldest bock beer festival.  We met up with some friends and enjoyed the night downtown.  I wanted to take some pictures, but Derek has decided that he is waytoocoolforschool to take photos with his wife.  Case-in-point:

I didn’t get the memo that we were doing an exaggerated smile…so we tried again:

Fantastic..except this time, some rando guy in the red plaid totally got in our picture.  Kinda makes this picture if you ask me!  Oh wait, that would be my husband making a face my 5-year-old nephew would make.  Love you babe!

Sunday- We literally spent all day downstairs enjoying our new basement watching tv/movies/and listening to music!  Soooo relaxing!  I watched the new tv series, GCB.  Anybody else catch that last night?  I thought it was great!

Hope you had a great weekend!

Surprise, Suprise

First, Brutus thanks you all so much for all the sweet comments!  Now, as mentioned yesterday, I want to show you the newest addition to the house.  I would like to remind you what it looked like before…..now you didn’t think I was pregnant did you haha…..

Before:

After:

Wait, did you notice?  LOL, I just noticed it doesn’t look that different…..but we got LANDSCAPING!!!  We are so excited to finally have our landscaping done / not be the only house in the entire development without landscaping, haha!

I swear it looks so good and adds so much to the house!  It was dark by the time I got home, and it was raining all day (may get snow tonight!), and not to mention all of our landscaping will look so much better once spring is here.  But let me point out some of our plants:

Blue spruce with some stone outcroppings, boxwoods, and those stick-like plants framing our doorway our dwarf korean lilac plants.  See I told you Brutus loves all the new additions.  In fact, he insistently pees on all of them every time he goes outside to mark his territory!

Maiden grass by our garage and blue star junipers around the lamp-post to coordinate with the blue color from the blue spruce tree

More of the green velvet boxwoods in front of our garage

To the right of our front door, there are more (I know) boxwoods, an ornamental japanese maple tree and 3 knockout rose bushes by the side of the house (they will be a mixture of both red and pink)

And lastly, our big tree!  I’m so excited for this baby to bloom.  It is a schubert cherry tree so it will start off will green leaves/white blooms in the spring and then turn to a purplish color in the summer/fall

Whew, I never thought I would talk about plants so much in my life!  Haha, hope I didn’t bore you to death.  But I’ll definitely take a re-do in the spring for you =)

If it is hard for you to imagine, I’ll share with you a picture that our landscaper created for us except I we opted for no boulders (don’t even get my husband started…..)

Hope you are having a good week!

I Actually Tried One!

I’m not sure if you are like me, but I’ve got so many of Pinterest’s DIY pins that I swear I’ll get to one day…..WELL, I gave it my first shot!

I thought this polka-dotted pumpkin looked adorable…and my OSU pumpkin needed a friend!

1. Buy an artificial pumpkin (mine via Hobby Lobby)
2. Put stickers everywhere (buy the size you like!)
3. Spray paint pumpkin black
4. Pull of stickers and voila!  Well, that’s what Pinterest said…but the spray paint crept under the sticks…ugh, I was so annoyed.  So I trecked myself to Michaels and picked up some acrylic paint and gave it my best shot.  It turned out pretty good actually!

Of course I wanted to get a shot of the two pumpkins right?!?  Well OF COURSE Brutie Man wanted in on this photo shoot (like always)…

I thought he would move….but then he laid down so I knew he was there for the long haul

So, I gave in and photographed his cuteness

When he wasn’t looking later, I snuck in this picture =)

We’ve been so busy with getting ready for our big partay/house-reveal this weekend that I haven’t had much time to blog….I’ll try to post sometime this week on what we’ve been up to!

Hope you had a great weekend!

Pillows!

Side Note: I’ve took the plunge and started learning all about our SLR camera…..by reading the manual.  Also, I’ve started taking the pictures in the camera’s manual mode.  These pictures are no way perfect, but I’m having a blast learning more about photography!!  If there are any references/websites you suggest for beginners, PLEASE let me know!

On to the updates...

What a difference some new pillows can make!  A BIG thanks to my mom for completing these beautiful pillows for me!  First up, our formal living room….our as we call it, our “piano room!”

This is the EXACT piano I used to learn how to play when I was a little girl!  My grandma was so very nice and offered it to Derek and I ….all the way from South Dakota!

Of course the Little Man had to get in every shot of mine!  He was doing his “model” look of peering off into the distance =)

Brown and white zebra stripe for the family room….can’t show a full picture because of a project currently happening in there….

Oh, and to throw another little house update in here, look what I picked up over the weekend…our first holiday decoration!!

Ok, Ok…you want to know about the project happening in the family room……I’ll give you a sneak peak….

More to come later….
