Party Details!

Hope everybody had a great weekend.  I received our gender reveal pictures in the mail on Saturday from Jax, and I could not wait to share the details with you.  Get ready for “Cute as a Button” picture overload!  If you missed the big reveal, you read more about it here.

I ordered the mason jars from Amazon. All bakers twine, buttons, and paper straws are from Etsy.

This is the Old Wives’ Tales Predictions I was telling you about.  As you can see, any of the predictions that guessed girl, was backed by pink paper and accessorized with pink buttons.  The same went for the boy guesses.  I got the frame, jute, and mini clothes pins from Hobby Lobby!


I made an ultrasound button garland to go on our mantle.


I included some pregnancy pictures on my Burlap and Barnyard Trio picture frames.  I love how easy it is to change pictures!!


Derek spray painted all the mason jars, which we obviously used for flower vases, with metallic gold spray paint.  He did such a great job if I must say so!

We had buttons (ordered from Etsy) to indicate everybody’s guesses.

Our food spread…pulled pork, chicken salad, broccoli and cauliflower salad, macaroni salad, and fruit.  Have to mention Allison again for that adorable burlap banner! 


We tried out the Pinterest idea of tying balloons to golf tees and then sticking them in the grass.  Success!

The delicious cupcakes from Sweetly Wild!  We had cookies & cream icing and cream cheese icing with a traditional vanilla cupcake.  If it was a girl, the middle was filled with a strawberry puree/cool whip combination and if it was a boy, the middle was a blueberry puree/cool whip combo.


It’s a girl!!

Spring Wreath Tutorial

You know those projects that you are so excited to go get the supplies and do it and then you bring it home and it sits forever because you can’t motivate yourself to actually do the project?!  Well, yeah, me neither.  Except this is exactly what happened to me!
This project has been sitting and waiting to be assembled for over a month (our kitchen table is thanking me right now!).  I finally got to it this weekend.  And so happy that our door has a spring wreath on it.  This is a super easy project and took me probably only 30 minutes.


Step One:  Gather your supplies
-Wreath
-5 fake flowers
-Floral wire
-Wired ribbon
-Letter or Numbers (if you want to do your house number)
-Paint & Paintbrush


Step Two: Paint your letter.  I chose red to match the burlap ribbon I purchased


Step Three: Trim flowers


Step Four: Attach flowers to wreath.  I used the floral wire and wrapped it around the base of the flower.  Then twisted the wire around the wreath to make sure the flowers don’t move (See below)





Step Five: Adhere letter and make bow.  I didn’t know how to adhere the letter without showing the wire….So, right now the wire is visible.  I put some red paint over it to make it less noticeable.  I really don’t mind it because it is not that noticeable.
Now, on to the bow.  Seriously, I think this is why I put off this project because I knew the bow would be a pain.  I used this video and finally figured out the bow.  Truthfully (after almost having a breakdown) the bow is too big, the loops are too large, there are too many loops, etc. etc.  Can you tell I’m not 100% happy with this stupid bow?  But hey, it will work for now.


Step Six: Hang your wreath!

I’m linking up with Katie and Steph today for a DIY project.  I really didn’t know what to call this project, but it involved barnyard frames and burlap….so anything to do with these two things, count me in!

Cute, right?  This project was really quite simple.  Once I finally decided on all the right supplies, I finished this in probably 20 minutes.




Supplies needed: 3 frames (mine were 10 X 8 and found at Home Goods), 3 12x12 metal sheets, monogram or letter, 2 bulldog clips, magnets, burlap, and black spray paint




First, cut your metal sheets to fit your frames.  I used the cardboard from the frames as a template.




Spray paint your bulldog clips




Adhere magnets on the back of your letter…I would not suggest the tape.  It was not strong enough and the letter kept sliding down once hung.




Wrap your metal sheet in burlap




Print out two pictures and assemble




Find a naked wall that is begging for attention





And have your husband hang these bad boys!  Definitely love how these turned out.  I also love how easy it will be to change pictures.  I thought since it was right above Brutus’ food & water dishes, I would fill the bottom frame with a photo of himself.  You know, just in case he wanted to admire it while drinking some water.

Weekend Recap!

Happy Wednesday!  Nothing like recapping the weekend in the middle of the week, right?  Well, I thought I would share what I was up to this weekend…

Remember when I said that my linen closet was out of control and in need of a reorganization?  Well, I spent my time cleaning, throwing, and organizing that baby!  Here was the (horrible!) before:

Ta-da!!  So after adding the tiles to the shelves like I did in our pantry, I used lots of baskets to organize.  Seriously what is better than an organized closet?!  Welll…..



...what about an organized closet with LABELS?!?!  Are you freaking out right now, cause I am!  Haha seriously this makes me a wild child, I know, but I’m just so excited with how organized this closet is!  I swear I was a professional organizer in a past life like AshLee from The Bachelor.  Who knew that was a profession?


And of course I had the help from this little guy

Also, this weekend I went to Home Goods and found a thousand things I wanted.  I feel like Home Goods is such a hit-or-miss store, so imagine my excitement when I found a lot of stuff that I needed wanted!


I got new pillows for our living room!



I really think it brings out the blue in our picture that is above our couch.  I’m very happy with them!

I also went to our neighbor’s 3 year old birthday party and a bowling going-away party for a friend.  I sadly did not take any pictures at these events.  But, that is what I’ve been up to lately!

Panty Organization

Did I say Panty?  Oops, I meant Pantry!  Yes, pantry organization is what’s up today!  But real quick, yesterday when I was leaving work it was faareezing outside, so I had my gloves on.  Well, I walked to my car and pressed the unlock button.  When my car didn’t light up, I thought that’s weird, maybe I didn’t press the button hard enough.  Instead of pressing it again, I just tried the handle and it opened.  I go to sit down and notice a pink water bottle in the passenger seat.  Hmmm, I don’t remember owning on of those is what went through my head.  And then I looked down and saw an automatic gear shift…..my car is a manual.  I WAS INSIDE SOMEBODY ELSE’S CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Ahhhhh, I jumped out of that thing like it was on fire.  Can you believe there was an identical silver Mazda 3 parked right next to mine.  Jeepers I felt creepy being inside somebody’s vehicle.

Anyway, moving on!  So, I originally came up with this idea from Leah's blog when she did this to her pantry.  It has been on our to-do list ever since.  You can find the original pin here.

So, this is the before..



Yikes is right!  I mean, who puts wire shelves in the closets?!  As you can see, we have a bajillion bottles & cans (especially all kinds of olive oil from Italy) that love to fall right through or fall over every second. 

So here is the answer…



Self adhesive vinyl tiles.  This is very similar to what we used.  But, really all you do is:

a) clean out your pantry

b) peal and stick your tiles

c) trim up any extras to cover the shelf

d) And then stick everything back on. 

It is neat and organized (just how I like it!) and things don’t fall through the cracks!




Much better right?  Now, I just need to do the same thing to the disaster that is called our linen closet!

Well I decided to try and recreate it.  It honestly was not hard at all.  What do you think?

   

Here are the steps:

 

 

1) Gather your supplies:

• 3 pumpkins of different sizes
• The letters “B O O”
• Krylon glitter blast spray paint in Starry Night and Orange Burst ( I needed two cans of each; however, the first 2 I ordered online and they did not work very well.  So you may only need 2 cans total)
• Urn or some type of holder for this topiary
• Hot glue / gorilla glue / or some type of adhesive

 

 

 

2) Spray paint the letters and pumpkins.  Use a sharp object to remove the stems on the bottom two pumpkins.  Or like me, remove them all because I’m an idiot, Oops.  I guess I just got on a roll and forgot to stop : )

     

3) Adhere the letters to the pumpkins.  Also, adhere the pumpkins together and enjoy!

 

   

I put this right by our door to go along with our other pumpkins out front.  A couple hours later, Brutus and I went outside to get the mail and look what happened…

     

Ugh!!!!  I took all the pieces back inside and used gorilla glue instead of hot glue.  This bad boy is definitely a lot more sturdier now!

 

 

This is just an update of the apothecary jars I made last year, but here is how I repurposed them for Halloween
