My First LulaRoe

Everybody has seen the LulaRoe shops on Facebook, right?  Well, I guess I'm late to the party because I had never tried the clothes.  My friend Monica (shop LulaRoe with Monica Montes) let me try out some of the clothes.  I've heard the most amazing things about the leggings so I was excited to get my hands on a pair.  I also grabbed a shirt and dress to try.  Overall, the fit and softness of the materials are outstanding!

These are the leggings I chose.  They run OS and super stretchy.  Blue I thought would be a fun color and would deviate a little bit from my normal black.  These leggings are so comfortable!  They are incredibly soft.  Only thing for me is they run a little short.

Next up is the Randy 3/4 sleeve shirt.  I ordered an XS and as you can see, it runs a bit bigger.  However, I love the length!  I have a long torso and hate when shirts are so short on me.  This fit perfectly and I know I will wear this a lot in the spring/fall.

Last is the Amelia dress.  Now, this is definitely not something I would normally pick out.  However, I'm obsessed with army green so I thought I would give it a try.  Just like the other two items, the material is soooooo soft.  I loved the way it felt on.  I wore it out to dinner with Derek one night and actually received two compliments on it!  I look forward to wearing this dress for many different occasions....very easy to dress up or down.

Overall, my experience with LulaRoe was extremely positive.  I think their clothes are so soft and fit very well.  Monica is awesome to work with and I love looking at her outfits she pairs together :)  She is your hook-up for all things LulaRoe!

...to fringe or not to fringe...

that SERIOUSLY is the question!

I have had fringe fever for over a year now.

Derek bought me the Minnetonka boots above last year after I had my eye on them (such a sweet husband) but then I took them back.  I have a really hard time keeping anything I don't see myself wearing.  I just didn't know if I could rock them.  Ever since, I've been a little sad I didn't keep them.  I feel like with the right outfit, they would be such a great boot.

As of right now, I do not have any fringe in my closet.  I love everything but I'm just too hesitant to make the purchase.

What are your thoughts?  Do you fringe?

Fall Booties

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

I love love love booties.  You can wear them with a pair of shorts in the summer and dresses and jeans in the fall/winter.  I have a great black pair that I purchased from Target last year (and I wished I would have bought them in every color).

Well, I'm on the hunt for a light color.  As you can probably tell, I'm liking suede and a beige/gray color.  I love all the pairs above, but they are so expensive!  I'm not sure I'm ready to shell out major money for a pair.  But I just cannot find any affordable options.  Please tell me you know where I can find what I'm looking for!

How to Dress a Bump

First, let me just say that I’m not the most stylish pregnant lady out there.  Nor, do I consider myself an expert, by any means, on how to dress a baby bump.  But, I had some requests to put together a post of how I am using my current wardrobe and what pieces I have purchased during this pregnancy.  I am more than happy to share.

So, I guess we start at the basics.  I needed to plan for work & fun when thinking about adding pieces to my closet.  See, at work, I have to dress very conservatively.  I’m talking about a suite, closed toe shoes, and knee highs (yes, I know….).  Anyway, I knew I wasn’t going to purchase any maternity suits, so I wanted something I could incorporate into my work and everyday attire.  Also, staying affordable and cheap were key to me.  I used to think of how exciting it would be to buy a whole new wardrobe when I got pregnant.  As soon as I got pregnant, my mindset totally changed and I wanted to purchase as little as possible for me because there were all these things I wanted for our new child!

First, I would highly suggest looking at what you have in your own closet.  Especially the first 6 months.  Any longer top or dress could take you through your first two trimesters.  Obviously, I was dressing this bump during the warmer months, so it could be different if you are doing the same thing during the winter.  Next, I purchased the basics when it came to tops and bottoms.

Maternity Clothes 1

1) Long cardigans.  I stocked up on mine from the clearance section at Old Navy.  These were great to replace my suit jackets on most days and also when I needed some extra length.  Extra bonus- can wear afterwards!

2) Long Tank Tops. These are from Target and are $12.99.  I really wish I had them in every single color.  But, I purchased white and black.  During the warmer months, these were great to wear by themselves.  Also, any regular top that is getting too short, just throw one of these underneath.  Extra bonus- can wear afterwards!

3) Long T-Shirts.  These are also from Target and are only $9.99.  These were perfect for the whole pregnancy…up until now.  Honestly, because they do not have the ruching, they are getting a little short.  However, I will definitely make them last the whole time.  They are perfect for wearing under the suit jacket with a statement necklace, with jeans, or for lounging.  I have 3 of them!  Extra bonus- can wear afterwards!

Maternity Clothes 2

First suggestion when it comes to bottoms, buy maternity asap.  I waited too long to buy them and was uncomfortable for a while.  Even though I wasn’t showing, my {everything} was expanding.  I did the whole hair tie trick for a while, which was fine, but honestly, maternity pants fit so much better!  I didn’t try the band, but some people have good luck with that.  Second suggestion is to buy what you normally wear.  Seems like a no brainer, right?  Well, I found some major steals & deals at my local gap and clearance store gap over the summer.

Things like (1) jean shorts (most affordable and best I found was at Old Navy), (2) work pants (gap clearance center), and (3) jeans (love H&M fit) were what I bought.  And again, if you wear skinny jeans normally, buy yourself skinny maternity jeans.  I felt so much better when I was dressed like I “normally” would.

For everything else, I shopped at my favorite stores and sized up one.  This worked for a lot of tops and dresses.  All the dresses I wore for my showers/special occasions (here, here, and here) were from either The Limited or Kohls, just a little bigger.

These are the things I’ve found that have worked well throughout pregnancy.  Now that I have a serious baby bump to contend with, things are a little bit different.  I’m trying not to buy anything else since there is only about 6 weeks left.  I’ve added a couple of long sleeved shirts and hoping my winter clothes can help with the transition!

Let me know if you have any questions!

Summer Fashion

I have a long list of items I’ve been lusting over for a few months.  They revolve around maxi skirts, lace shorts, tribal prints, and rompers.  Take a look!
Maxi Skirts
1. 2. 3. 4.
I own a few maxi dresses, but no maxi skirts.  They seem so versatile!!  I would love one, or two, of these in my closet.  The brighter the better!

Lace Shorts
1. 2. 3.
I first saw lace shorts on pinterest, and it was love at first sight!  So so so adorable.  And the best thing is, there are some more affordable options at Forever 21, H&M, etc.

Tribal Print

1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
Anything and everything with the tribal prints, I’m loving right now!  Especially dresses.  This is such a great print that can go from season to season!

Rompers
1. 2. 3. 5.
And lastly, rompers.  Oh, rompers!  I don’t own one of these because every single one I’ve tried on for the past 5 years does not fit right on my body!  BUT, that doesn’t mean I haven’t given up hope.  They are so adorable and I hope I can find one!

As for me, I’ve really kept shopping to a minimum.  Literally, to a minimum means zero…ugh!  I just know that we will have so many purchases in the near future (including adding some maternity wear for me), so I’m trying me hardest to not buy any new summer items in my normal size!

What are you hoping to add to your closet for this summer?

The Girl in the Red Dress

DSC_1876e
I was contacted by eShakti to do a review on a piece of their clothing.  This was my first ever request, so of course I was like, absolutely!!!  eShakti is an online retailer that offers custom tailoring on their pieces.  This allows women to make preferences according to their fit/style, etc.  I honestly could not make a choice of which item I wanted to personalize.  I knew I wanted a dress, but there were so many adorable options, it took me a while to decide.  Go check out all their options!!  You can also see their items on FB & Pinterest.

Honestly, I try to stay away from strapless dresses.  I don’t know what it is, but they just do not look flattering on me.  However, I’m so naturally drawn to the strapless….I love all of them.  So, I thought I would take a chance on this little red dress.  First, I just love the polka-dots.  Second, I really don’t have much red in my closet.  Since the big chunky necklaces are so on-trend right now, I thought this may be a good addition to making the strapless look better on me.

The ordering process was super easy.  All you have to do is put in your standard size and height.  I chose to keep the neckline the same, but I changed the length to right above the knee.  I think this makes the dress a little more versatile, rather if it was super short.  I was super impressed by the boning and fabric that helped this dress stay in place.  No pulling this bad boy up all the time :)

Another thing I loved about the dress are the pockets.  How cute are these?!

And lastly, I love the detail in the back with the faux-buttons.  It adds so much instead of having just plain material in the back.  So cute!!

And because I feel ridiculous for having an entire post of pictures of me….I decided to add a couple of fun ones.  The picture above is me doing my “gone-with-the-wind-fabulous” twirl.  Gotta love you some crazy RHOA!

And lastly, this is my “I’m getting pretty hot and it is very sunny out / I don’t know what other faces to make any more besides smiling.”  Seriously, I have no idea how you fashion bloggers do it!

So, thanks so much if you made it through this post.  I apologize all these pictures are of me…next time I’ll bring Brutus to the photo shoot for some variability!

Cargo Glamour

photo(16)

I saw this picture of Miss Maria on dayoldnews and fell in LOVE with this army green dress.  I feel like this color green is something both brunettes & blondes can wear…it looks good on anyone!  BUT, after looking in my closet, I literally do not have anything green of any shade.  It’s just not a color I normally gravitate to.

And then, I got this email from H&M:

Cargo Glamour

Cargo Glamour.  Seriously, what a great concept, right?

I’m seriously inspired to give my wardrobe a little cargo glamour boost ;)  What about you?

Also, I’m over at Julie's blog today…you know, your favorite girl in the red shoes!  Feel free to come say hi!

Fashion Friday!

First, thanks so much for all of your comments on Wednesday!  So many of you were interested in a link up, so stay tuned and I’ll try to have something maybe next week.

Now, real quick, if you don’t mind, please take the survey below so I know what you ladies are looking for!  Thank you!

Create your free online surveys with SurveyMonkey, the world's leading questionnaire tool.

Now on to some outfitting!

Who doesn’t love them some leather leggings!  My only question is how to pair it with a longer top without it looking to casual.  What are your thoughts?

Leather Leggings

Tory Burch tunic / Max Studio / Zara fake leather pants / Zip pants

Love Plaid (seriously don't think this should be spelled this way)!  I honestly do not have a plaid shirt yet and want a good fitting one.  Any suggestions?

Plaid

You can never go wrong with a long-sleeved mini dress.  You can pair it with booties or tall boots.  Love!

Long-Sleeved Mini

H&M , $21 / AX Paris studded dress, $48 / KORS Michael Kors snakeskin boots, $445 / Unisa tall boots, $380

This is another trend that I’m into right now: pairing winter shorts with leggings/tights.

Winter Shorts

Wallis gold shirt / Mango sheer black shirt, $48 / Tweed shorts / Cut off shorts, $40 / Miss Selfridge black stocking / Tight / Cole Haan high heel boots / Thick heels

Lastly, vests are definitely hot this season.  I feel like this is wear I would sneak in some fake fur.  A great way to do the fur-trend without it being too overwhelming.

Vests

Damir Doma leather vest, $785 / OL Sleeveless Blazer with Drape Front / Dorothy Perkins skinny leg jeans / Bootcut jeans, $36 / Yves Saint Laurent suede platform booties / Minnetonka

Hope you have a great weekend!

12 Dresses!!

Did anybody catch the CMA awards last night?  I did not because Derek and I were busy watching American Reunion (loved it!).  BUT, that did not stop me from stalking websites today to see what & how many dresses Miss Carrie wore while hosting.

Of course she looked gorgeous in every sing one of those dresses.  I thought I would share some of my favorites.  You can find the original article here where I got all the photos from.

Red Carpet Look:
In my opinion, THESE are Carrie’s colors.  Gold and White look phenom on her.  Love it!

Shimmery Long-Sleeved Minidress
So this is such a “non runway look,” but I love it!!  I can’t get enough of long-sleeved minidresses, especially around this time of year.  Her shoes are amazeballs, so that is why I was really into this outfit!

Dramatic Long Black Gown
I’m a huge fan of Carrie wearing her hair up so of course this look was a huge hit for me.  I don’t love straight strapless on Carrie, but the sweetheart neckline and embellishment make this dress all sorts of great!

Multi-Layered Cocktail Dress
So.adorable!!  Again, love the gold and white (see above!).  I really wish Alice + Olivia would sport some affordable pieces because I really love their dresses

Sequin Minidress
HOTT! That’s all.

Those were my favs from the night.  Did I miss one of your favorites?

Hope you have a great weekend!

Fall Fashion

Since we have gotten back from Italy, we have been experiencing some cooler temperatures, which are fine by me!  I’m excited to get out those winter clothes!  After looking through some websites, here are some items that I’m looking for when shopping.

Collar

I’m pretty obsessed with this collar trend right now!  It took so much restraint not to buy that studded collar shift dress!  I think it would be so hot with some leather leggings and heels!

Statement Necklaces

This trend of course is continuing on…but I like it!  I like accessorizing with big statement necklaces.  I also like that there are some cheaper alternatives making their way onto the scene!

Winter Colored Jeans

Another trend that is moving from season to season.  However, the colors of the denim will be different for winter.  I’m dying for a little mustard pair…if only I had some lingering tan to help pull it off!

Tops for Tights

Nothing new here, but I can’t wait to get back into my tights!  I love tights weather.  You can pull of the looks with flats, high heel boots, or riding boots.  Love!  However, I do struggle with finding tops long enough to cover the booty…suggestions of where to find?

Camel Colored Outerwear

Lastly, I just love camel-colored anything!  I am in “need” of a new pea coat this season, and desperately want a camel!  However, once I ran across these leather beauties, I figured I wouldn’t mind one of those in my closet either ; )

Hope you have a great weekend!
