Holiday Weekend Random
1) First, can we please talk about how big my baby girl is getting?! I mean look how tall she is (!!!)
2) I'm obsessed with pigtails. Yes, that's all I really have to say; but seriously, nothing is cuter than pigtails!
3) A huge shoutout to Leah for making this adorable Valentine's day shirt for Charlie.
4) We spent the weekend in Athens visiting Derek's parents. We had a great Valentine's Day doing a little tour of Athens. We went to Uncorked, a new wine bar, Thai Paradise for dinner, and then a local bar for darts. Super fun night and so nice to enjoy a night out with his parents!
5) Anybody watching The Bachelor this season? Chris is soooo boring to me...is it just me? Anyway, I'm basically just reading Reality Steve and Sharleen's recaps instead of watching it but the girls seem a little crazier than normal this season, no?
6) I'm currently watching Friday Night Lights and loving it! Anybody else obsessed with this show?
7) I have been eating horribly this winter. I've decided enough is enough and I'm going back to cleansing. I'm super excited and actually motivated to get back to how I felt this summer!
8) I just picked up this lip set from Sephora last week and I'm obsessed. It is the perfect matte lip color that has lasting staying power. I also like the option of using the pencil and gloss for a more nude color.
9) I'm going to see 50 Shades of Grey with a neighbor this week and couldn't be more excited! Any reviews?
10) Any fantastic book suggestions? I bought Andy Cohn's new book and cannot get through it...I loved the first one but this one is sooo boring!
Whew, didn't realize I had so many questions for all of you ;) Hope you have a great week!

Randoms!
1) I've started becoming obsessed with the Bachelor/ette spoilers. Namely, this one and this one. I'm kinda watching these crazy horrible shows just because I love reading the behind the scenes and spoilers.
2) I've almost completed my first cleanse. Oh man, this one deserves its own post...
3) We found out Charlie has some type of allergic reaction to eggs (insert huge sad face here). Her face got puffy, red and blochy, and white welts. It was my first mommy scare. So glad benadryl was enough to help her feel better.
4) We leave for vacation in less than 3 weeks and I haven't thought through anything. I need to research packing and flying with an almost 8 1/2 month old. I'm the complete opposite from a procrastinator (pointing to my husband right now) but I'd rather leave these details off to the last minute for some reason.
5) I met Derek for lunch a couple of weeks ago. I showed up to the restaurant, and he had Charlie in her PJS!!!!!!!!!!! I side-eye'd him as I sit down and he states that he "knows he should have changed her out of her PJs." I guess when he walked in, he saw another dad alone with his daughter and she was all dressed up. Anyway, these PJs were unfortunate in the fact that they were blue and white stripped with a big pink ladybug on the butt. Well, Charlie was sitting in a high chair, so all you could see was blue. Our waitress asked if we wanted any crackers for "HIM" while we are waiting. I honestly laughed so hard that I couldn't answer. I think Derek got his shaming x100 that he'll never take Charlie out in her PJs again.
6) I'm so excited for this 4th of July. Last year I was pregnant and still thoroughly enjoyed our block party. Now, this year, after Charlie goes to sleep, I'll be making up for lost time :)
7) We took Charlie to the zoo for the first time. She didn't love it, but was interested in the very large animals that were close. Honestly, exposing her to new things/experiences is my favorite thing in the whole wide world. I cannot wait to take her on her first plane, show her the ocean, etc!
8) We are doing a board & train program for Brutus while we are gone. He is such a great little dog, but has so much anxiety. We are hoping a program will help him with that. Plus, what dog wouldn't want to hang out on a farm for a couple of weeks!
9) I've successfully completed my no-spend June (for myself). Now, all bets are out the window with preparation for this vacation!
10) Derek got me a MacBook Air for my birthday and I'm trying to figure out how to use the thing! There is way more of a learning curve than I was prepared for. I'm trying to find a downloadable program to draft my blog posts on...any ideas?
That's all I have for you! Happy July (and my birthday month!)!!

Randoms…
…Derek and I grill out at least 2 times a week during the summer. We are looking for more recipes because I swear, we make the same thing over and over. Last night we tried a grilled honey mustard pork chop recipe and it was delicious!
…I recently tried out this self tanner. I love that the color is so natural and the application is fairly easy. The thing I don’t love about it is I apply it at night and I swear most of my color washes off in the shower the next day. Over a week though I got a pretty good base color going on. I’m a fan.
…Charlotte and I had the best weekend ever together last weekend. Derek worked so it was a lot of girl time and I loved every single second of it. We tried out her new pool (see below), visited with neighbors, went to the dog park, attended a baptism party, and more!
…Along with the self tanner, I have acquired the Baiden Mitten. After reading reviews/suggestions of how to apply the self tanner, I came across the suggestion to buy this mitt. I had never heard of it and was very skeptical. After a couple of weeks, I’m hooked. In fact, I even have Derek trying it out. It is the most amazing exfoliator I have ever come across!
…Derek and I keep talking about our weekend coming up because we are so excited! We are finally celebrating his birthday. I got him Diamond Club seats at the Reds game (aka all you can eat and drink). I thought to fully take advantage of the whole deal we needed to get a hotel downtown. Now can you see why we would be excited?!
…We hung out a lot with our neighbors this weekend and can I just say how thankful I am for all these little babies and babies-to-be running around!! I love that Charlie has a ton of little girls so close. Makes me so very happy.
…I’m having a no-shop June and I am already sucking. I bought some clothes for Charlie yesterday. SO, in fact, I made it a no-shop-for-me June. I’m pretty sure I can do it!
…I am absolutely loving my chopped hair! I ordered a 1 inch curling iron and I’m excited to try and curl it.
...Have you ever heard about the Environmental Working Group website? I came across it when trying to find a new soap and lotion for Charlotte. Seriously go check it out right now. Except you may not want to because you'll find every single thing you are using is bad for you. I know not to go crazy and replace every single thing in my house, but it really makes you stop and think!
That’s about all the randoms I have for you today!

Life Lately…
I’ve been wanting to do a “life lately” post for a while now to catch everybody up on how life has been with a newborn. I’ll be honest, the first 3 weeks were a struggle for me! I had zero confidence as a mom and with Charlie. Confidence was something I KNEW I would struggle with; however, the self doubt really hit me around 2 weeks. Luckily, we have such a great baby and I have the best husband in the world. This past week has really been a turning point and I feel like a whole new mommy! I’m getting to know Charlie more and feel like I can respond to her needs better and I have a lot more confidence in myself! In fact, we took our first girls trip to Target yesterday. It went great…besides the fact I forgot her diaper bag at home. Hey…I didn’t say I had this mom thing down perfect yet ;)
Here’s what we have been up to:
First Car Ride
Catching a First Smile
First Family Photo (and rocking mini pink skinnies)!
Transitioning to the Nursery
Newborn Pictures
Taking Advantage of Days off with Daddy (and enjoying wine flights!)
Enjoying Our First Thanksgiving (…or maybe not)
Charlotte was 1 month (!) on Saturday so look for that post coming soon!!

Lately…
….I’ve been MIA in the Blog world!
…Last week, we were busy doing things every night
…Now, this week I’m feeling very unmotivated and uninspired. I think this is due to feeling very tired and worn out. I think my second trimester energy bursts are officially gone.
…I’m trying to stay as active as I can. Brutus and I are the best walking partners. In fact, Derek and I took him for an hour and-a-half hike on Monday evening at Sharon Woods. My legs were feeling pretty tired by the end. Brutus on the other hand, could have gone for miles more!
…I cashed in my spa day last weekend that Derek got for my birthday. It was glorious! I received a pregnancy message, facial, and pedicure. It might have been the best pedicure in my life! I received Graeter’s Ice cream and a parafin dip that smelled like chocolate. I was in heaven!
…I enjoyed a day of shopping last weekend! And it didn’t end up in frustration…I got two dresses for my shower this weekend. Now I’ve just got to decide on which one I’m going to wear!
…Speaking of showers, I’m soooo excited for Saturday. Did I mention we are having a big fat sleepover afterwards. Girls Night at it’s finest!
….Derek and I finished up House of Cards a couple of weeks ago and loved it. Now we are watching The Killing. At first it drove us crazy, but we just finished Season 1 last night and I cannot wait to start Season 2.
…Derek put together the crib last night and I cannot help but to go into the nursery every time I walk by it! Just to know that our little girl will soon be laying there makes me crazy excited.
….I started eating vanilla Greek Yogurt with strawberry vanilla granola and it is rocking my socks off. Seriously, I cannot wait for this snack every afternoon! Yum!
…We made this salad that I have had pinned from Jane's blog forever ago. It was seriously the best summer salad. Loved the grilled peaches!
Hope things are going well for all of you!

Friday Random & Recipe
-I can’t believe I’m 24 weeks. Only a few more weeks until I enter the 3rd and final trimester!
-We have received a crap ton of deliveries (I’m not mad about it) for the nursery. SOOOO excited to get the little gal’s room fixed up.
-Speaking of deliveries, we had a company deliver some furniture this week and they proceeded to run over our mailbox. As in completely ruin it. Right now we cannot receive mail. Such a pain in the butt!
-We ran out of Brutus’ food the other morning so I had to give him biscuits/treats for breakfast. I put about 5 biscuits in his bowl and the little guy couldn’t believe his luck. Seriously he pranced around the house a couple of times before digging in because he couldn’t believe I was giving him treats for breakfast!!
-We rented Safe Haven the other night and I was disappointed. It was pretty slow and I didn’t love the actors. I didn’t think there was any chemistry!
-My birthday is Sunday so we have a busy weekend planned. I hope you all have a great one!
In honor of the birthday week, I made Birthday Cake Chocolate Chip Cookies via the best dessert blog ever!! These were super yummy and contained everything I love!
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, room temperature
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups cake mix
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup sprinkles
- 2 cups chocolate chips
- 2 cups coarsely chopped Birthday Cake Golden Oreos **I used the original golden Oreos because I could not find the birthday cake
- In a bowl of your stand mixer cream butter and sugar together for about a minutes until light and fluffy. Add in eggs one at a time. Add vanilla and beat until smooth.
- With mixer on low add in baking soda, salt, flour and cake mix, stirring until mixture just comes together.
- With mixer still on low add in sprinkles, chocolate chips, and chopped Oreos. Stir until evenly incorporated.
- Chill dough for at least 2 hours, an overnight is better.
- When ready to bake preheat oven to 350°
- Line baking sheet with parchment paper and form dough into round balls, placing them 2 inches apart on baking sheet.
- Bake cookies for 8-10 minutes until edges are slightly golden. **Mine baked for 13 minutes…I must make large cookies!
- Allow to cool on baking sheet for 3 minutes and then transfer to wire rack to continue cooling.
Enjoy!

Kiss Ever Pro Lashes
Dr. Scholl's For Her- So, I haven’t used these yet….BUT, I cannot wait to put these bad boys in my heels. We have a wedding this month, and I will definitely be trying these out.
Luster NOW! Toothpaste- This review is via Derek. Derek isn’t, how do I say this delicately, exactly teeth-priority kinda guy. I thought this was the perfect opportunity for him to review this toothpaste and see if it whitened like it promised. After two weeks, we can definitely tell a difference. Nothing close to teeth whitening strips or anything, but more effective than the typical whitening toothpaste.
My Trio Rings- No rings included in my box :(
Urgent Rx Aspirin Powder- I’ve been very good with not taking anything while pregnant. BUT, this is definitely in our medicine cabinet for anybody at our house that needs it.
Q-TIP- Who doesn’t have these in their house already? Seriously, we use this product for everything!! Just ask Derek, I always go for his Q-Tips when I run out of mine instead of going to the hall closet to restock. I’ve been now blaming it on our baby when he asks where all his Q-Tips went :)
*I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes
And NOW, it's time to reveal Brutus' giveaway! The winners are:
Just email me ladies and I'll get your Frosty Paws gift pack over to you!
Hope you have a wonderful 4th of July and please, have a drink for me ;)

Why I Watermark
C’mon, tell me how you really feel…
Not surprisingly, this commenter did not have an email address to reply back to nor a Blogger profile (I’m sorry I’m not sorry that will be the only bitchy and snarky comment on this post). However, if I could reply back, this is what I would say…
It’s very plain and simple, it’s the internet! It all started after reading this post on Becky’s blog where some stranger was using her photos and claiming her daughter was their own. Not only is that wrong on so many levels but it’s just creepy. While I may not have an innocent child to protect, my photos are my property and while I choose to share them with you all, I do not want them stolen from me. I mean, how easy is it to right click and “save-as” or get the image location? People are able to use your own image and not cite your blog. Therefore, I watermark all my pictures.
I completely understand this is my own opinion and not everybody agrees or wants to go through the trouble of watermarking. And that is one hundred percent ok! However, I decided after reading Becky’s post to start doing it to all of mine. Sure, I could only do it to the pictures that have people in it or do it the pictures that are “worth” marking. But, I have gotten in the habit of doing all photos. While I’m editing and rounding the corners anyway, I might as well add my blog name to the picture.
Of course, to make it less “distracting,” I could always move the watermark to the corner or somewhere not as noticeable. But how easy would it be for somebody to crop it out and use it as their own? I understand that if you find it annoying, then you definitely should not waste your time with my blog because all of my photos will be watermarked. However, I just thought I would let you know why I’m doing it.
Whew!
How do you feel about watermarking?

Sorry I’m Not Sorry
I’m linking up with these lovely ladies for a round of Sorry I’m Not Sorry!
Sorry I’m Not Sorry for….
Making lists all the time. And I prefer lists on paper (in case you were dying to know) so I am able to cross it off.
Yelling at my husband when he is driving crazy and then when I’m by myself, I do the exact same things. Hey, he’s so much scarier when he does it ;)
My head being full of song lyrics. Seriously, I’m pretty sure 80% of my brain is full of lyrics. Super helpful when making my commute everyday to work. Singing along to the radio is the only thing keeping me entertained every day while driving.
Being drove crazy when people do not shut cabinet doors. Seriously, how hard is it for you to shut the door?
Being in love with their dog and treating it like part of the family.
Using too much of every product…this drives my husband crazy. Whether it’s body wash, shampoo, toothpaste, eye cream, etc. etc. etc. You name it, and I use way too much. I know I do it….I just have a hard time visualizing how much I need.
Watching crap tv. Reality tv is about the only thing I watch. The crappier it is…more likely I’ll watch it! I’m craving that fluff stuff when I get home from work. I don’t want to watch anything that needs my brain to work.
Being horrible at geography (ahem, Mr. TBC). I promise you, it’s not my fault!
Derek and I have our own secret clap. You know, a hand clap routine you did with a rhyme or something when you were 5 years old?! Well, we were awesome when we were in high school and started doing a small secret “handshake” (which involved clapping each other hands). We have been adding to it every since and now it has gotten kind of long. But every so often we will pull it out to see if we can remember it.

Random Wednesday
Ok, first things first, I got to my office this morning and it was fiftyseven degrees!!!! I know it’s in the teens outside, but why is my heat not working inside? Brrrrr!
And while we are on the subject of coldness, I’m so thankful we have a garage. Seriously! After apartment living for forever, it is sooo freakin nice to have a warm place to stick my little vehicle!
Have you ever gone grocery shopping and had Velveeta cheese on your list? Well this happen to me the very first time on Monday, and I could not find this cheese I speak of anywhere!!! First, I look in the cheese aisle (gasp, imagine this). Then, checked out the mac&cheese/cracker aisle. I thought maybe it could be down there if it wasn’t by the rest of the cheese. But nope. Couldn’t not find it. So I had to ask….and this is where it was. Ummm, excuse me but how is anybody supposed to guess it is here?!
Anybody recognize these beauties? Well, these are the mason jar snow globes for Anthropologie! I wanted to make these as DIY project last holiday season, but didn’t get around to it. Well, I ran into the store last week and these were sitting in the 75% off pile. I basically jumped for joy and was smiling like an idiot. I got all 3 jars for $24. So.excited!
Did anybody watch the Oprah special with Lance Armstrong? Ugh, I did. And all I heard was, blah blah blah I’m a liar and a cheater.
What random stuff do you have going on this week?

Confession: I love these little realty t.v. clips. Can’t stop laughing whenever I see them!
Did you hear about Blue Ivy’s first birthday party?

Remember when I used to do themed posts….
Remember here when we sent our Christmas cards out soooo late in December? Well, this year, I wasn’t having any of that last minute crap. So, we have our Christmas cards/matching address labels/and Christmas stamps. Now, the envelopes just need addressed and mailed. What, you’re telling me they don’t do it themselves? Crazy. Anyway, we went with Tiny Prints again this year just because I was so impressed with the quality last year. We went with non-traditional colors in order to fit with the colors from our Venice picture. I love how they turned out! If you haven’t ordered yours yet, you can click the link and get special offers. Tiny Prints definitely did not pay me or ask me to do this blurb…I just thought I would share a special deal, because hey, I like special deals!
Remember here when I said that Derek hung our triptych too close together? Well, he fixed it yesterday and it made the world of a difference. Once we update a few other pieces in our family room, I’ll be sure to post pictures!
Remember here when I told you I needed to liquor Derek up in order to go shopping? Well, I received this email from Derek yesterday and it seriously CRACKED me up! I just thought it was so adorable that he sent me this. Unfortunately, I’m a woman (obviously), and had to answer with a lady-like comment; “Well, it really depends upon where it is from. Oh, and it depends on if it is a top or a bottom.” And I’m sure Derek read “blah, blah, blah, blah.” But, seriously, it does. Now, I’m very intrigued to what I’m getting for Christmas, because everything on my Christmas list (that was apparel) had the sizes referenced.

Remember here when I told you we needed to do a bird dance because we got a new bird feeder and we had no birds? Well, that bird dance worked like no other because ever since then we can’t keep this sucker filled! Seriously, Derek has to fill this bird feeder everyotherday!!!! I recently spotted our binoculars on the kitchen table and proceeded to ask Derek why these are laying out. And our convo went a little something like this:
Derek: Our new neighbors (that just moved in) have a bird feeder too
Me: So….
Derek: So, I am using the binoculars to scope out the type of birds their feeder attracts
Me: And…
Derek: We need to make sure our bird feeder is always full so our birds don’t go over to theirs
LOL, ok my dear.
Dear Check Engine Light,
Remember here when I told you my check engine light miraculously disappeared? Well, guess what? It’s back. Listen, I’ll deal with whatever. But this whole going away and getting me excited and then coming back crap is not fun!
Just stay away….thank you.
Remember here when I told you that we are planning a progressive dinner with our neighbors this weekend? We have the cocktail hour portion of the dinner (there are four houses involved), so we went shopping last night. Along with the usual suspects (beer, wine, etc.), we are making an apple-spiced sangria and some gourmet (Yes! Gourmet!) jello shots. Can't wait to tell you all about it!
Hope you have a great weekend!!

Random Wednesday
- So I’m pretty much a loser because nobody linked up yesterday….but it’s totally ok and I can laugh about it!
- BUT, the good news about my link-up yesterday: I went out to go to work the next morning and my check-engine-light was gone. Yup, that’s right. So maybe my link up is good luck : )
- Did you watch the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show last night? Would you believe me if I told you that I’ve never watched it? Well, it’s true.
- Did you hear about William & Kate’s exciting pregnancy news? Sooooo exciting!
- I had to make my Christmas list for Derek this weekend…and I struggled. What is wrong with me? I feel like it's because I haven't been shopping in forever and I forget what I'm wanting! Although, when making the list, I saw a commercial for spa, so I definitely put a massage/spa day on my Christmas list. Amazing idea, right?!?
- You know those curling wands? Well I finally caved and bought one. I like it! It gives a way different curl, but I dig it.
- I’ve been rocking the gel/shellac polish since we left for Italy in September. I have recently had it removed and I’m so sad that my nails do not have color anymore : ( I felt like I needed to give my nails some breathing room.
- I’m pretty sure we need some more outside lights. All of our surrounding neighbors have outside lights. We just have a wreath and two Christmas trees, that flank our door, that light up. But compared to everyone else, we don’t look as festive.
- We received a iTunes gift card for Christmas (we have Christmasgiving when we go to South Dakota. Yes, weird, I know.) and I think I’m going to buy the Mariah Carey Christmas CD. I thought about maybe Glee, but after listening to R&B/Pop Christmas radio station on Pandora for the past couple of weeks, I’m shooting for MC.
- I wrapped the first Christmas gift last night and it made me excited!
- After wrapping said gift, I realized I need to suck-it up and go out shopping the day after Christmas to get more gift wrap, tissue paper, labels, etc. Except, I work the day after Christmas. Really, it’s a little inconvenient that Christmas is on a Tuesday this year.
- And that’s about all that I have for you today! Hope you are having a good week!

Random Tuesday
- Did I tell you all that I’m celebrating my ONE YEAR of no caffeine? No? Well, it’s true. I knew I was straight up addicted to caffeine so I wanted to see if I could do without. Now I feel so much better without it. Seriously! I started with cutting coffee out in the mornings. This wasn’t that bad…the worst part was stopping my diet dr. pepper everyday at lunch. Man or man, do I miss my ddp! It is just sooo good. I’m substituting juice and tea now so that way I don’t have to go through life drinkin just water. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some water…just not all day every day.
- Ok, so can anybody else NOT get into Real Housewives of Atlanta? I’ve watched every season of Atlanta and for some reason I can't get past 10 minutes of the first episode. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll probably watch it. I just don’t know what it is! On the other hand, I’m so freakin excited and love Beverly Hills! Get me more of that please!
- The Vow…hmmm….ididnotlikethebookorthemovie!!!!!! Did you get all that? I know so many of you raved about the book but I could not get into it. Anybody else feel this way? The movie was just ok for me. I mean, talk about a completely different story line! So you would think since I didn’t like the book, that I would like the movie because it was completely different, right? Wrong. The only saving grace was two things: Channing & Rachel! Love!

- If you are going to make chicken noodle soup (which I suggest you do because it is awesome), please use this recipe! It was seriously the best! So flavorful. My only suggestions is to cook the carrots (maybe even roast them) longer than suggested. They were a little crunchy. Maybe that’s your style, but if not, they need to be cooked longer that the recipe suggests. Also, I let my soup simmer for a long while to let all the flavors meld together; so, I would suggest to add the noodles a bit later into the process so they are not too done.
- While shopping the other day for my nieces and nephew, I came across Disney Princess Paper Dolls!!!!! I freaked out in Toys R Us…just ask my husband! I loved paper dolls when I was younger and these are so much better because they have magnets. Can’t you just imagine how much longer these will last?
- We are traveling for Thanksgiving…as in flying to another state. Thus, I kinda want to decorate before we leave. That way, when we get back the house is already decorated. If we do that, it would have to be soon. Like tonight soon. Thoughts? Will our neighbors think we don’t like Thanksgiving? Because we do. Just trying to make it more convenient!
- I heart you ladies! I really do! I love all of your comments and emails. They make my day! And that’s all that I have for you.
